IRADe has a strong presence in energy policy studies in India, in the context of global energy scenarios, pricing policy and reforms, technology assessment, energy access, programme evaluation, role of renewable energy trade and long-term perspectives. IRADe’s expertise lies in technology assessments exercises which include carbon capture and storage, biodiesel, renewable technologies and star-rated appliances. Access to modern energy for the poor, especially for women, is a major concern that is reflected in IRADe’s research.
Analytical research at IRADe include in-depth studies on energy mix including production, consumption, exports, imports, sector-specific fuel demand and their macroeconomic impact. Energy transition is a focus area with forecasting models that have been used to project demand under different scenarios, till 2030, 2050 and 2070.
