Gender and poverty alleviation issues have been cross-cutting across all the thematic areas. IRADe has been continuously working towards women empowerment by enhancing their capabilities and increased participation. IRADe’s projects focus on gender-centric issues while discussing energy, environment, climate change, cities, agriculture etc. IRADe has been strongly advocating the sustainable energy for all (SE 4 all) initiative of the UN, seeking attention towards the non-commercial energy sector which is predominantly managed by women. To this end, IRAD has undertaken various research studies, awareness programmes, capacity building through seminars and conferences to discuss socio-economic aspects of clean cooking fuel, energy transition, energy poverty and the consequent issues of poverty alleviation and gender equality.
