The training program primarily tailored for the Nepalese was to provide them with the institutional and human capacity to establish a power trading entity in Nepal. The activities, which were targeted at Nepal Electricity Authority, Government of Nepal representatives and private sector, also included additional representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. The primary goals of the exchange were to allow South Asian delegates to observe approaches for attracting investments through competitive energy markets, learn techniques for managing energy markets in deficit power situations and analyze power trading strategies and pricing mechanisms in an energy shortage environment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"pdf_link_box\">\n<h4>Brief &#8211; Executive Exchange on South Asian Power Pool (SAPP), May 2014<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"read_more\">View Report<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"sri_accordion \">South Asia Regional Workshop on Competitive Electricity Markets March 2014, Colombo, Sri Lanka<\/h2>\n<div class=\"sri_panel \">\n<p>Under the SARI\/EI Energy Markets Partnership, the USEA hosted 35 executives from the 8 SAARC countries for a workshop on March 18-20, 2014 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The key objective of the workshop was tp assist in the creation of enabling and systemic conditions for a sustainable market for trading and exchange among South Asian countries. The participating utility and government executives discussed the benefits of a regional power pool and the steps necessary to form a South Asian energy market.
