IRADe organized a study tour to Nord Pool power markets, 12-16 October 2015, Oslo (Norway) & Fredericia (Denmark) to explore and understand aspects that dwell upon the process of evolution, technical\/operational, institutional and commercial aspects of regional power markets.<\/p>\n

Training Program on Power Trading, September and November 2015, Delhi<\/h2>\n
\n

SARI\/EI in collaboration with PTC India Ltd. trained energy professionals from neighbouring countries on Designing, Managing & Operating Power Trading Entity in September 14 \u2013 18, 2015 at the NPTI campus in Faridabad, India. The training program primarily tailored for the Nepalese was to provide them with the institutional and human capacity to establish a power trading entity in Nepal. The activities, which were targeted at Nepal Electricity Authority, Government of Nepal representatives and private sector, also included additional representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. The Module 2 of the training was conducted November 30 \u2013 December 4, 2015 at the NPTI campus in Faridabad, India by PTC and NPTI.<\/p>\n

Executive Exchange Program for South Asian Energy Executives Examine the Bangladesh \u2013 India Bilateral Electricity Market, August 2015<\/h2>\n

Energy executives representing South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI\/EI) countries participated in the executive exchange on the Bangladesh-India bilateral electricity market held over August 25-27, 2014.<\/p>\n

Study Tours to European Regional Power Markets, July 2014, Amsterdam and Paris<\/h2>\n

To obtain first-hand knowledge and experience from the process of evolution of European regional power markets IRADe organized a study tour to Amsterdam and Paris over 13-19 July 2014, to facilitate knowledge transfer and build the capacity of the members from the South Asian Countries, by dwelling upon the legal and regulatory issues, institutional governance, operational and market aspects etc. To achieve the objectives of the study tour, the overall program was designed with a combination of class room training as well as site visits.<\/p>\n

Executive Exchange on South Asian Power Pool (SAPP), May 2014, South Africa<\/h2>\n

Under the SARI\/EI Regional Energy Markets Partnership, USEA, along with co-sponsor ESKOM, hosted executives from Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka for an executive exchange on May 19 \u2013 23, 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The primary goals of the exchange were to allow South Asian delegates to observe approaches for attracting investments through competitive energy markets, learn techniques for managing energy markets in deficit power situations and analyze power trading strategies and pricing mechanisms in an energy shortage environment.<\/p>\n

South Asia Regional Workshop on Competitive Electricity Markets March 2014, Colombo, Sri Lanka<\/h2>\n

Under the SARI\/EI Energy Markets Partnership, the USEA hosted 35 executives from the 8 SAARC countries for a workshop on March 18-20, 2014 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The key objective of the workshop was tp assist in the creation of enabling and systemic conditions for a sustainable market for trading and exchange among South Asian countries. The participating utility and government executives discussed the benefits of a regional power pool and the steps necessary to form a South Asian energy market. By examining the evolution of various power pools around the world, the participants were exposed to the challenges faced in different political and regulatory environments, as well as the universal benefits achieved by implementing regional electricity markets.<\/p>\n
